Klenovnik was mentioned for the first time in 1244 as a fortified town, and the castle built by the Drašković noble family at the beginning of the 17th century gives it a fairytale and romantic character.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Klenovnik Castle was turned into a sanatorium for the sick as well as a place for lung diseases. Klenovnik is located in the micro-region of the Macelj mountain range and exudes completely clean and fresh air. It is only 24 km from one of the most beautiful cities in Croatia, also the first capital of our country, Varaždin, and 58 km from Zagreb.
